Who is your sponsor?

Start by separating three roles. A residence sponsor is connected to your UAE residence. A financial sponsor pays some or all of the journey. A host provides accommodation in Europe. The same person may perform more than one role, but do not leave the relationship unexplained.

This guide is for short visits by UAE residents, including homemakers, dependent spouses and students. It is not a family-reunification guide. Nor does ordinary family sponsorship automatically establish eligibility for the special EU-family route.

Can I apply without my own bank account?

Do not create a fictional salary or borrow statements in another person’s name and present them as yours. Use the destination’s sponsorship instructions. Spain’s UAE tourism checklist expressly addresses financial documents from sponsors for dependants. Spain checklist.

Make a list of which costs the sponsor will cover: transport, accommodation and day-to-day expenses. If you also pay part of the trip, explain that division. Your application should not suggest that two people will each pay the entire same bill.

For a host in the Netherlands, use the official family/friends checklist to distinguish accommodation evidence from financial sponsorship. A UAE spouse’s support letter is not automatically a substitute for a destination’s prescribed undertaking.

What if my husband or wife is not travelling?

Describe the real arrangement: who travels, who remains in the UAE, and who pays. Spain’s checklist has a specific section for dependants not applying alongside their sponsor. Do not describe the sponsor as travelling merely to fit a template.

A useful preparation folder has clearly labelled sections:

| Section | What to organise | | --- | --- | | Applicant | Your own identity, residence and visit details | | Relationship | The evidence requested for the relationship to the sponsor | | Funding | The sponsor’s requested financial evidence and explanation | | Itinerary | Who is travelling and where each traveller will stay | | Return circumstances | Genuine work, study, household or other relevant commitments |

This is an organiser, not a universal list of mandatory documents.

Sponsorship letter: a drafting brief

If the official route provides a form, use it. Italy’s Abu Dhabi forms page includes sponsor NOC forms. Official forms.

Otherwise, ask the sponsor to describe the relationship, intended dates, expenses covered, whether they accompany you and how they can be contacted. The sponsor must check and sign the final statement. Do not insert a fabricated salary, signature or company stamp.

A letter explains evidence; it does not replace requested statements, relationship documents or official forms. See bank-statement requirements for organising the funding records.

Homemakers, students and remote workers

Use an accurate description of your situation. Being on a spouse’s residence visa does not necessarily mean you are unemployed. If you work remotely, explain your actual work and income rather than selecting a misleading employment description.

If a requested document does not exist in your circumstances, ask the official route what evidence it accepts. We cannot promise approval based on a sponsor’s salary or account balance.

Travelling with children

Funding a child’s trip and consenting to the child’s travel are different questions. Consult the children’s guide for parental authority, signatures and one-parent travel. Keep sensitive sponsor records private; send them only through the legitimate application process.
