I am a UAE resident on an Indian passport. Do I need ETIAS?
No. ETIAS is a travel authorisation for nationalities that can enter the Schengen area without a visa. If your passport requires a Schengen visa, you apply for the visa, and ETIAS has nothing to do with you — your UAE residence permit does not change that.
When does ETIAS actually launch?
As checked on 30 August 2026, the official ETIAS website says the system is not operating and applications are not being collected. It says the specific start date will be announced several months before launch. Read the tracker and check the official live status.
Is ETIAS a visa?
No. It is an authorisation to travel for people who do not need a visa, checked before boarding. It does not create an entry right and it is not an alternative route for someone whose nationality requires a visa.
Should I pay a website to get ETIAS for me?
Check the official ETIAS website for operational status and application instructions before paying anyone. A commercial form does not establish that the government service is open, and ETIAS cannot replace a required visa.

| Who ETIAS actually applies to | Visa-exempt nationals only. The UAE is on that list; India, Pakistan, the Philippines, Egypt and Bangladesh are not. Nationality and qualifying status determine the applicable route, not UAE residence alone. Ordinary Indian, Pakistani, Filipino, Egyptian and Bangladeshi passport holders generally need a Schengen visa, subject to exemptions.
