Visa, border checks or travel authorisation?

Understand border checks before you travel. Our Entry/Exit System guide explains how EES relates to visa holders, who is covered and where to check official guidance. What that means in practice.

ETIAS and a Schengen visa are different processes. Start with our comparison to understand why nationality and residence must be considered separately. The distinction, set out properly.

Common questions

I live in Dubai on an Indian passport. Do I need ETIAS or a Schengen visa?
A Schengen visa. ETIAS is a travel authorisation for nationalities that can enter without a visa — Emirati citizens, for example. Holding UAE residence does not make you visa-exempt, so if your passport needs a visa, it still does. The full distinction is here.
Can I apply from the UAE instead of my home country?
Generally yes if you hold valid UAE residence, and it is usually the better route because your employment, income and ties are all here. What changes is the consulate, the application centre, the evidence expected and a residence-validity requirement that does not exist at home — covered here.
How many days can I actually stay?
Up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period. The window moves rather than resetting on a fixed date, and both your arrival and departure days count in full. The calculator works it out on your own dates.
Is this an official site?
No. Top Visa Services is an independent Dubai-based information and referral platform. It is not affiliated with the EU, a government, consulate or application centre. If you request commercial assistance, we may introduce an independent provider and disclose that relationship.
