Fastest does not mean first available appointment

The real timeline has three parts:

The European Commission describes a normal 15-day decision period that may extend to 45 days. That clock does not include the time spent waiting for an appointment or receiving the passport afterwards.

Choose the responsible country first

Apply to the country that is the sole destination or genuine main destination by duration or purpose. First entry is used only when no main destination can be identified. An earlier slot elsewhere does not transfer responsibility for the trip.

Use the country-choice guide before comparing timing. Do not create hotel bookings around a convenient appointment if they do not describe the journey you intend to take.

How to improve speed without making false claims

  • begin within the permitted application window rather than waiting for the last month;
  • use the correct centre and appointment category;
  • prepare the current destination-specific checklist;
  • make names, dates, accommodation, leave and funding consistent;
  • respond promptly through the official route if more evidence is requested; and
  • keep reservations flexible until the passport returns.

Premium lounges, courier products and private document assistance do not make the consular authority approve an application faster unless an authority expressly publishes a qualifying expedited route.

Travel agencies, forums and “easy country” lists

Forum and Reddit reports describe individual experiences, not a dependable forecast. A travel agency may help organise documents, but it cannot lawfully guarantee approval, create a genuine itinerary or control the consulate’s queue. Treat claims about secret slot-release times, guaranteed visas and a permanently “easy” country as unverified unless the competent authority publishes them.
