Italy has two UAE routes

The Italian Embassy’s instructions distinguish Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra applicants holding Abu Dhabi-issued residence from Dubai and Northern Emirates applicants. The former route uses BLS; the latter uses the Dubai consulate’s VFS route.

Start with the authority that issued your UAE residence rather than the airport you will depart from. If your circumstances do not fit the published wording, ask the mission before choosing a centre.

Select the right checklist

Follow the embassy’s links to category-specific document lists. A sightseeing itinerary, business meeting and family-related visit should not be assumed to need identical evidence.

As a preparation exercise, write a day-by-day itinerary with the real accommodation and purpose. If another Schengen country is the main destination, review the responsible-country question before continuing.

Appointment and paid services

The embassy states that its Abu Dhabi tourist route requires an appointment and describes different arrangements for business submissions. Recheck the live instructions before relying on a walk-in route.

It also says premium services are optional. Do not treat their purchase as part of the consular assessment.

Keep the official payment receipt, appointment confirmation and a secure copy of the submitted file. Avoid allowing an intermediary to control the only email account receiving notices.

EU family circumstances

The embassy describes direct visa-office access for EU citizens’ family members. Confirm whether your circumstances qualify instead of booking an ordinary tourist route by default.

After submission

Follow the tracking instructions associated with your own operator and centre. Do not send a status inquiry to the other UAE jurisdiction simply because both issue Italian visas.

After collection, inspect the sticker before finalising travel. If refused, use the remedy instructions on the decision rather than assuming that the application centre itself can overturn it. See appeal or reapply for an evidence-organisation method, not case-specific legal advice.

Use the embassy’s actual forms

Italy’s Abu Dhabi embassy publishes separate tourism NOCs for company and individual sponsors, plus forms covering minors and private accommodation. Start from its forms directory, not a generic document bought from a template seller.

The directory also includes national-visa categories. A heading for self-employment or remote work should not be confused with the supporting evidence for a freelancer taking a short holiday.

A practical route-specific folder

Keep the applicable checklist, the official form versions, your appointment confirmation and your evidence together. Label whether the file follows the Abu Dhabi or Dubai route. Do not assume an Abu Dhabi form replaces a form specifically required by the Dubai consulate.

For a sponsor-funded trip, identify who pays and which letter or official undertaking your route requires. Read sponsorship and employer letters before asking someone to sign.

Travelling with children or another household member

The embassy’s minor forms address different situations. Use the children’s guide to identify consent and custody questions early. If a household employee accompanies you, use the category-specific official instructions instead of describing work duties as ordinary sightseeing.

Before the appointment, compare names, dates and accommodation across the family’s files. That consistency exercise is useful preparation, not a guarantee of acceptance.
