Book through the Spain-specific route
BLS Spain UAE states that applicants should book their own appointments and that intermediary-made appointments are not accepted. Use the official account and your own contact details so you receive confirmations directly.
The site distinguishes official service charges from unauthorised payments for access. Its notices also describe non-refundable online fees and cancellation/rebooking rather than rescheduling. Read the current terms at checkout before committing.
Check the correct category
The site lists tourism, business, household workers and EU/EEA spouse routes separately. Do not assume the document set or appointment arrangements are identical.
A person travelling to Spain to visit family should describe that purpose accurately even if some sightseeing is planned. If the trip includes several countries, establish the real main destination before booking.
Employer-letter detail worth checking
BLS publishes specific requirements for the employer-letter signatory, including identification details. Give HR the current wording rather than relying on a generic company NOC.
Because this involves personal information about another person, obtain the document through the authorised employer process. Do not add identifying details from an unofficial source.
Organise the rest of the file
Use the purpose-specific checklist to review passport, UAE residence, financial evidence, accommodation and insurance. Our document organiser is a preparation aid, not a replacement for Spain’s instructions.
Before buying insurance or a courier package, distinguish what is required from what is offered for convenience.
Refusal and changing plans
Follow the remedy instructions on the actual refusal and ask the competent authority where and how to submit. Do not assume an operator complaint protects an appeal deadline.
If the itinerary changes materially, keep the application truthful and ask whether updated evidence is needed. A booked appointment is not a reason to submit travel plans you no longer intend to follow.
Financial evidence and dependants
The published Spain-UAE tourism checklist requests three months of personal bank statements and specifies sponsor evidence for dependants. It also addresses dependants not applying with their sponsor. Follow the category wording rather than assuming that a spouse must travel on the same application. Spain tourism checklist.
Our sponsorship guide explains how to separate your residence sponsor from the person paying for the journey.
Residence and family-document differences
The same checklist states one month of UAE residence validity beyond the requested visa expiry and asks adult applicants for copies of UAE residence permits issued in the previous five years. It also specifies a translated marriage certificate where spouses have different nationalities. Read the linked checklist for your category and resolve missing records with the official route.
Do not apply another destination’s residence wording to Spain. Keep the residence-validity guide alongside the official checklist.
Check the itinerary before signing
Spain’s checklist calls for a signed itinerary letter. Describe the real journey and keep it aligned with accommodation and return booking evidence. See travel reservations for a planning example, not an official Spanish form.
For minors or self-sponsored applicants, review the specific sections instead of presenting a standard employee package. Ask the official route about any requirement you cannot meet truthfully.
