Reservation, paid ticket or fabricated booking?
These are different things. A genuine reservation records an actual booking or hold under the provider’s terms. A purchased ticket involves payment and its own fare conditions. A fabricated confirmation represents a booking that does not exist.
The term “dummy ticket” is ambiguous. Ask exactly what you are receiving, whether it can be verified and when it expires. Do not submit an edited PDF, invented booking reference or document that misrepresents payment.
The Netherlands says tourism applicants need travel-reservation evidence, not a paid ticket. Germany’s UAE tourism checklist requests flight reservations and warns about fake bookings. Dutch instructions · German instructions.
Before paying for flights
Read your destination’s current instructions first. Compare the appointment and likely decision timeline with the reservation’s validity and any cancellation conditions. A short hold may expire before submission; a non-refundable ticket creates a financial risk if the visa is refused or delayed.
We do not recommend a specific ticket seller or claim any reservation guarantees acceptance. If the checklist is unclear about the evidence required, ask the official application route.
Hotel bookings and private hosts
Use accommodation evidence for the trip you actually intend to take. Check traveller names, address, arrival/departure dates and whether the booking covers your party.
Private accommodation can require different evidence from a hotel. An invitation email is not automatically interchangeable with a prescribed accommodation certificate. Follow the country’s family/private-visit instructions when staying with friends or relatives.
For a partly hosted trip, identify which nights are with the host and which are in booked accommodation. Explain the arrangement rather than attaching inconsistent reservations.
Build a simple itinerary
This is an original planning example, not an official form or recommended journey:
| Dates | Location | Stay evidence | Movement | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | 4–7 October | Paris | Genuine accommodation reservation | UAE to Paris | | 7–9 October | Lyon | Genuine accommodation reservation | Planned train journey | | 9 October | Departure | Not an overnight stay | Return to UAE |
Use your own dates and genuine plans. Check that accommodation check-out dates are not mistaken for extra nights. List cross-border movements when relevant to the responsible-country decision.
The which-consulate tool helps organise multi-country trips. Do not extend a hotel reservation on paper solely to make a particular country look like the main destination.
What if plans change after submission?
Keep the file truthful. If the purpose, main destination, dates or accommodation changes materially, ask the official route whether updated documents are needed. Do not assume a visa remains appropriate for every replacement itinerary, and do not hide cancelled bookings during examination.
Retain confirmation of legitimate changes. A visa is not a guarantee of entry irrespective of the circumstances of the actual journey.
Keep the whole application consistent
Compare the itinerary against leave dates, insurance and funding. Use the cover-letter guide to explain genuine complexity; do not use a letter to disguise contradictory records.
Allow for processing and passport return before committing to costs you cannot recover. Check the provider’s written refund conditions rather than relying on the word “refundable” in an advertisement.
