Start with the holiday you actually intend to take
A tourist application should explain a leisure visit, not disguise employment or a different primary purpose. France’s official tourism guidance distinguishes tourism from professional activity. If the central purpose is a conference, visiting relatives or paid work, check the appropriate category before booking an appointment.
For a UAE resident planning Paris and Amsterdam, write down the dates, accommodation and main purpose first. Use the consulate decision tool to organise the itinerary; do not choose a country simply because its appointment calendar looks easier.
Build a consistent booking pack
Prepare a simple day-by-day outline rather than an elaborate travel essay. Your transport dates, accommodation, leave approval and insurance should describe the same journey. If someone else booked a room, show how you are included in the reservation.
Keep these practical questions beside your checklist:
- Where will you sleep each night?
- How will you travel between destinations?
- Who pays, and where is that funding documented?
- When do you return to the UAE?
- Does your approved leave cover the trip?
These are preparation prompts, not a substitute for the consulate’s document list.
Budget for the whole journey
The amount left after flights, accommodation and existing commitments matters to planning. Do not add a temporary unexplained deposit just to make a closing balance look larger. Explain genuine unusual transactions with supporting records.
Read the bank-statement guide and destination checklist together. A sponsor’s support should be explicit; it does not make your own circumstances irrelevant.
Before making non-refundable commitments
Check cancellation conditions and avoid treating an appointment or submitted application as approval. Use reservations in the format the destination requests; never submit a fabricated booking.
After receiving your passport, compare the visa’s dates, entries and permitted days with your bookings. Our visa-validity guide explains why a visa’s expiry date alone is not permission to stay until that date.
