Hungary visa from Dubai and the UAE

Short answer

Hungary accepts UAE applications through its partner VFS Global in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. You must be a UAE citizen or resident to use this route. Select the correct short-stay purpose; VFS receives the file, while the Hungarian authority decides it.

Where UAE residents submit

Hungary’s embassy identifies VFS centres in Abu Dhabi and Dubai for most applications. It separately identifies limited categories that may apply directly, including qualifying family members of EEA citizens. Do not assume the exception applies without checking the embassy’s wording.

Hungary advises filing as early as possible within the six-month window. Appointment availability, application processing and passport return are separate parts of the timeline.

Airport transit Type A — airport transit	Passing through the international zone of a Schengen airport without entering the territory.	Onward ticket, and the visa or entry right for the final destination.	Assuming transit needs no visa. Some nationalities require an airport transit visa for the international zone itself — and this is one of the places where the passport matters more than anything else in the file.
Multiple-entry (MEV) Type C — cascade	Repeat travel on one visa, issued with longer validity to applicants with a documented history of lawful use.	A record of previous Schengen visas used correctly and within their limits, plus a demonstrable reason to travel repeatedly.	Treating a long validity as a long stay.
