What VFS does—and does not do

VFS provides the application-centre service used by Germany in the UAE. It manages appointment access, receives the application and biometrics, collects applicable fees, forwards the file and supports passport return. It does not decide approval, refusal, visa duration or processing priority.

This website is independent. It is not VFS Global, the German Consulate or an appointment-booking service.

Choose the centre by UAE residence

Do not select a centre only because it displays an earlier date. Germany’s mission publishes the jurisdiction split above.

The Germany appointment sequence

  1. Confirm Germany is responsible for the real itinerary.
  2. Choose the correct short-stay category for tourism/family visit or business.
  3. Register through the Germany-UAE VFS link published by the German mission.
  4. Follow the current waitlist instructions. A notification may provide a limited booking window; the mission currently says 48 hours.
  5. Attend with the current Germany-UAE checklist and your complete evidence.

Appointments should be booked only through the official route. Additional or premium VFS services do not influence the consular decision and should not be confused with the visa fee.

Processing and passport expectations

Germany’s mission says processing can take up to 15 days and that an application may be filed up to six months before travel. Individual files can require more time under the Visa Code. The tourism checklist also says the passport remains with the consulate during processing and withdrawing it cancels or withdraws the application.

Plan the appointment wait, processing and passport return separately. None is an approval prediction.

Common problems before submission

  • wrong centre for the residence jurisdiction;
  • appointment booked under the wrong purpose;
  • UAE residence expiring too soon for the requested trip;
  • employer letter, bank activity and travel dates telling different stories;
  • assuming VFS can explain or change a consular decision; or
  • paying a third party for an appointment that should originate from the official system.
