What this review could verify
The European Commission’s announcement dated 28 April 2026 describes ETIAS as scheduled for the last quarter of 2026 and says the exact date will be communicated later.
That dated statement must not be presented as proof of today’s operational status. On 30 August 2026, the official ETIAS homepage stated that the system was not operating and applications were not being collected. Its current status notice says the specific start date will be announced several months before launch; that notice does not give a quarter or exact date.
What we are not claiming
This page does not claim that ETIAS has launched, that the quarter is guaranteed, or that a move to 2027 has been confirmed. We have not verified an official announcement withdrawing the target or tying a revised date to a particular board meeting.
Earlier assumptions about those events should not be repeated as facts.
How to check before you travel
Open the official ETIAS website from the source link below and look for an explicit operational announcement, application instructions and any transition arrangements. Check the date of the announcement rather than relying on a search-result snippet.
If another website provides a different launch date, ask whether it links to a newer official announcement. A commercial application form is not evidence that the official scheme has opened.
UAE residents: check whether the scheme is relevant
Residence in the UAE does not determine ETIAS eligibility by itself. Nationality, travel document and relevant exemptions matter.
An ordinary Indian or Pakistani passport holder who needs a Schengen visa should not buy ETIAS as a replacement. Emirati citizens travelling visa-free are a different category. Read ETIAS versus a Schengen visa before acting on a deadline.
