Check the certificate, not the product name

France-Visas insurance guidance requires at least €30,000 cover for emergency medical/hospital treatment and medical repatriation, valid throughout the relevant Schengen territory and stay. A product described as “worldwide travel cover” still needs its actual wording checked.

Make a comparison sheet with your name, travel dates, territorial cover, insured amount and the required risks. Ask the insurer for a clear certificate if the policy schedule is difficult to understand.

Can UAE health insurance be enough?

It depends on the actual policy and the destination’s acceptance requirements. Do not infer overseas emergency and repatriation cover from a UAE hospital network card. Ask the insurer what happens outside the UAE and obtain its answer in writing.

Credit-card cover needs particular care: Germany’s published UAE tourism checklist says credit-card medical insurance is not accepted. German UAE instructions. That is a Germany-specific warning, not a conclusion that every policy is rejected everywhere.

Match the dates to the application

Check every traveller separately. If the itinerary changes, ask whether the policy must be amended before submission or travel. Look for a gap caused by an overnight flight or a journey spanning two calendar dates.

Avoid buying an unsuitable policy solely because it is offered beside an appointment booking. Keep the full wording and emergency assistance details, not just the receipt.

Repeat trips

A multiple-entry visa is not a multi-year insurance policy. Review cover for each later journey; France-Visas says multiple-entry travellers should carry insurance evidence during every trip.

Questions to ask the insurer

Ask how claims work abroad, how repatriation is arranged, which exclusions apply and whether planned activities are covered. Confirm the cancellation terms if the visa is refused.

This page does not endorse an insurer or promise that buying a policy guarantees a visa. Insurance is one part of the application file.
