Your visa appointment and border registration are different
Biometrics collected during a visa application are part of that application process. EES is concerned with eligible short-stay travellers at participating external borders. Having attended a visa-centre appointment does not mean there will be no identity checks on arrival.
The precise collection and verification steps depend on the category of traveller and the border’s arrangements. Avoid a blanket claim that every passenger follows an identical fingerprint process.
Follow the official instructions at arrival
Keep your travel document ready and follow the border officer’s or official registration equipment’s instructions. Facial-image capture and biometric checks are part of the system’s operation; staff can explain the applicable steps.
If you have a disability, injury or another practical difficulty using the equipment, ask staff for assistance. Do not assume a medical circumstance creates a general exemption from border checks.
Prepare for a first visit without predicting a queue
Allow practical time for arrival formalities and onward travel. Published implementation information does not establish a reliable number of extra minutes for your flight.
A tight connection is a booking risk to discuss with the airline. A paid airport service cannot guarantee that official checks will be skipped.
Protect your personal information
Use only official border facilities and official guidance. Be cautious about a message asking for fingerprints, passport scans or payment through a private chat in order to “activate EES.”
If a travel provider sends instructions, verify the destination and domain before sharing sensitive data. A familiar logo alone does not establish that a website is official.
Do not confuse registration with permission to stay
Completing an identity check does not extend your visa or remaining days. Keep an independent list of travel dates and check your visa conditions.
