Europe and Schengen are not the same
These checks apply when entering the Schengen area for a short stay. “Europe entry requirements” is a broader search: the UK, Ireland and countries outside Schengen have their own rules. Check every non-Schengen stop separately, including airport transit where relevant.
Keep these documents in your hand luggage

The EU’s visa FAQ advises travellers to carry copies of the documents submitted with the application because border officials may request proof of funds, accommodation or invitation and the return journey.
Check the visa sticker before travelling
A three-month validity period is not automatically permission to stay for three months. Read the number of entries and “duration of stay” alongside the valid-from and valid-until dates. Report an apparent printing error to the issuing authority before travel.

What to expect from EES
The EU Entry/Exit System became fully operational on 10 April 2026. It electronically records border crossings by covered non-EU short-stay travellers and may include travel-document and biometric data. A Schengen visa does not remove the EES process unless an exemption applies.

At passport control
Answer questions truthfully and keep the itinerary consistent with your documents. A changed hotel or flight is not automatically a refusal of entry, but be ready to explain genuine changes and show current evidence.
The border authority—not the airline, application centre or this website—makes the admission decision. Check the official destination authority shortly before travel because public-health, security and carrier requirements can change independently of the visa.
